At Supportive Bridge Staffing, we build the professional bridges that connect visionaries with career-defining corporate leadership roles. We are proud to partner with Aldi to find a strategic, commercially minded Sustainability Specialist to join their National Sustainability Supply Chain Transformation team.
This isn't about ticking compliance boxes—this role focuses on driving true systemic change, pre-competitive collaboration, and advocacy for higher environmental and ethical standards across the sector. The Supply Chain Transformation team is responsible for delivering Aldi’s new sustainability strategy for non-financial targets, building long-term strategic resilience across selected commodities, and driving a positive impact on both people and the planet.
If you are a sharp project manager who knows how to balance high-impact environmental goals with the lean commercial realities of a hard discounter, this is your platform.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will flex across diverse commodity areas and lead cross-industry collaborations to change how supply chains operate:
Project Delivery & Non-Financial KPIs: Support the Transformation Manager and Buying stakeholders in proposing, implementing, and delivering projects that meet critical non-financial KPIs across GB/IE markets.
Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives (MSIs): Identify and progress strategic partnerships, working closely with external stakeholders, industry networks, and NGOs to drive sustainability outcomes beyond the walls of Aldi.
Buying Cycle Integration: Seamlessly embed project identification into the core Aldi Buying tendering processes and ongoing supplier relationships.
Certification & Supplier Systems: Confidently navigate Aldi product and supplier approval systems to advance sustainable sourcing via rigorous certification management and continuous supplier engagement.
Commercial & Financial Stewardship: Manage project budgets and support complex financial planning, keeping sustainability initiatives aligned with Aldi’s legendary cost-leadership requirements.
Strategic Alignment: Coordinate smoothly with the wider Business Integration sustainability strategy team to eliminate duplication of effort and protect clear communication channels.
To thrive in this multi-faceted, high-impact transformational environment, you will bring:
Professional Core: Proven corporate experience working within the sustainability field, explicitly paired with strong project management and financial planning capabilities.
External Network Expertise: Demonstrated experience working directly with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives (MSIs).
Technical Knowledge: Practical familiarity with certification schemes, auditing evidence of schemes (certificates), and navigating license fee structures.
Commercial Acumen: The ability to understand financial limitations, protect budget lines, and respect cost leadership goals while fiercely driving sustainability standards.
Communication Style: A resilient, autonomous worker and confident communicator capable of managing multiple disciplines and stakeholder relationships under pressure.
Technical Skills: Top-tier attention to detail alongside proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Aldi actively invests in the professionals building a more resilient, sustainable future for retail. This permanent corporate package includes:
Flexibility & Balance: 2 days a week remote working, in-office flexi-time, and 5 weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
Health & Wellbeing: Access to a free, 24/7 confidential virtual GP service (for you and your children under 16), a health cash plan, and private employee medical insurance (after 4 years).
Financial & Family Security: Progressive salary scale up to £43,840, an excellent pension scheme, company sick pay, and enhanced parental/maternity leave pay (after 1 year).
MyBenefits Platform: Premium discounts including high-street shopping and cinema reductions, discounted gym memberships, travel savings, a bike to work scheme, and a free will-writing service.
Growth: Full training provided from day one alongside long service rewards.
