Salary: £37,545 – £43,840

About the Role

We are currently recruiting a proactive, strategic Packaging Specialist (Sustainability) to join the Global Packaging Hub based at the Atherstone National Office.

In this 18-month fixed-term contract, you will play a central role in delivering smarter, compliant, and cost-effective packaging strategies across all ALDI SOUTH markets (with a core focus on GB/IE). You will balance commercial performance, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance—leading optimization projects that directly influence product quality, cost reduction, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Lead and deliver end-to-end packaging optimization projects in collaboration with suppliers, packaging manufacturers, and National Buying teams.

• Regulatory & Strategic Alignment: Partner with the Global Packaging Hub to ensure packaging initiatives meet regulatory standards, commercial goals, and system capabilities.

• Data-Driven Solutions: Analyze data to generate clear, actionable recommendations and present strong business cases for continuous packaging improvements.

• Process Integration: Integrate packaging optimization seamlessly into the ALDI Buying process using knowledge of APP and CTS systems.

• Stakeholder Coordination: Communicate decisions with clarity and impact across multiple disciplines, both locally and internationally.

What We Are Looking For

• Commercial & Retail Experience: Proven background in a commercial role within retail or manufacturing environments.

• Packaging & Legislative Knowledge: Understanding of the end-to-end packaging lifecycle and technical packaging concepts. Knowledge of UK/EU packaging legislation (EPR, PRNs, PPT, PPWR) is highly advantageous.

• Analytical & Digital Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with strong data interpretation skills.

• Mindset & Communication: Resilient, curious, and comfortable working autonomously under pressure while coordinating across international stakeholders.

Important Application Requirements:

• Candidates must live within 90 minutes of the Atherstone National Office.

• Hybrid Work Policy: Currently up to 2 days/week remote working (adjusting to 1 day/week remote working from January 2027).
