At Supportive Bridge Staffing, we believe in building the bridges that connect forward-thinking professionals with career-defining corporate opportunities. We are proud to partner with Aldi to recruit a highly autonomous, regulation-savvy Sustainability Specialist to join their brand-new National Corporate Responsibility team.
Sustainability isn't just a corporate buzzword at Aldi—it is actively being woven into the very fabric of the global business operations. The newly formed Business Implementation team is tasked with the national rollout of sustainability strategies, adherence to international policies, and navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
As a Specialist, you will act as the vital link that integrates sustainability compliance across multiple corporate functions. This is a spectacular opportunity to influence global strategy, work independently to advise senior management, and play a defining role in shaping the future of a major global retailer.
In this cross-functional role, you will flex between diverse sustainability topics, ensuring that complex green regulations translate into practical, day-to-day business habits:
Strategy Implementation: Lead the national execution of Aldi’s sustainability strategy across the GB and IE markets, aligning efforts with the international central team.
Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Monitor emerging national and international sustainability legislation, assess its impact on the business, and proactively propose workable implementation steps.
Reporting & Compliance: Own mandatory sustainability reporting, ensuring total accuracy and compliance with shifting environmental and corporate governance regulations.
Supplier & Systems Management: Confidently navigate Aldi's product and supplier approval systems to ensure compliance, while providing clear, authoritative guidance to suppliers regarding Aldi’s policies and certification requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Systems Change team to embed business-as-usual administration for non-financial KPIs, carefully managing stakeholder communication to avoid duplication of effort.
To succeed in this highly visible, autonomous position, you must bring a solid blend of regulatory knowledge and exceptional project execution:
Professional Background: Proven corporate experience working within the sustainability sector.
Technical Knowledge: Practical experience handling certification schemes, auditing evidence of schemes (certificates), and managing license fee payments.
Work Style: A truly autonomous worker who can develop strategy independently and balance multiple shifting compliance priorities with top-tier organization.
Communication & Influence: A strong, confident communicator capable of managing relationships and driving compliance across multiple business disciplines.
Resilience & Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, impeccable attention to detail, and the emotional resilience to thrive under the pressure of complex regulatory deadlines.
Aldi invests heavily in the development of the specialists who safeguard their corporate future. This permanent package features:
Flexibility & Balance: Hybrid working models, in-office flexi-time, and 5 weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
Health & Wellbeing: Access to a free, 24/7 confidential virtual GP service (for you and your children under 16), a health cash plan, and private employee medical insurance (after 4 years).
Financial & Family Security: Highly competitive progressive salary up to £43,840, an excellent pension scheme, company sick pay, and enhanced parental/maternity leave pay (after 1 year).
MyBenefits Platform: Premium discounts including high-street shopping and cinema reductions, discounted gym memberships, travel savings, a bike to work scheme, and a free will-writing service.
Growth: Full training provided alongside long service awards.
