Contract Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (Shifts include alternate weekends)
About the Role
Are you a talented culinary professional looking to bring your skills to a role where every meal truly matters? We are seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to support the kitchen team at Parris Lawn, a 62-bedded nursing care home in Lewes.
In this role, you will work hand-in-hand with the Head Chef to create delicious, nutritious, and personalised menus that delight our residents, while helping oversee daily kitchen operations and mentoring junior culinary staff.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality, nutritious meals for residents.
Oversee kitchen operations, maintaining top-tier standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety.
Support, mentor, and inspire kitchen team members in a collaborative environment.
Design and update menus tailored to individual dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional needs.
Collaborate with other departments for special events and communicate directly with residents and families to gather feedback and elevate the dining experience.
What We Are Looking For
Level 2 (or above) in Food Safety and a Level 2 Catering and Hospitality Qualification.
Allergen and Intolerance Awareness Certificate is desired, though not essential.
At least 5 years of experience working in a busy commercial kitchen.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, paired with a genuine passion for care home hospitality.
