The Opportunity

We are supporting a major secure government programme building modern cloud-native and AI-enabled digital capability within a highly technical AWS environment.

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with strong AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD expertise who is also comfortable working hands-on with Python. This is not a purely infrastructure-support or systems-administration position; the role bridges DevOps automation, cloud engineering, and software delivery, with engineers contributing directly to AWS platform capabilities, automated deployments, and Python-based cloud-native services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and automate secure AWS cloud environments.

• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Build, scale, and improve CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines.

• Use Python to develop automation, engineering tooling, and cloud-native components.

• Support the deployment and operation of Python services, APIs, and backend applications across serverless and event-driven architectures.

• Build and support Docker-based, containerized services.

• Improve the reliability, scalability, and resilience of cloud-hosted systems while troubleshooting complex infrastructure and deployment issues.

What We’re Looking For

• Essential: Current, active SC, enhanced SC, or DV clearance (mandatory; candidates without active clearance unfortunately cannot be considered).

• Strong hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience.

• Proven expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

• CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation experience (using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).

• Meaningful commercial Python experience across automation, tooling, scripting, or application development.

• Experience with Docker, containerized environments, and supporting cloud-native applications or microservices.

• Desirable: Frameworks like FastAPI or Flask, Kubernetes/EKS, DevSecOps practices, and previous delivery within government or defence.
