About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust to recruit a qualified, visionary accountant for a vital leadership role at Good Hope Hospital.

Managing the financial operations of a £140m turnover hospital, you will act as the trusted financial advisor and business partner to clinical and operational teams. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Finance, your financial insight and strategic challenge will directly impact patient care, maximizing value while maintaining rigorous financial control.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Business Partnership: Serve as the financial voice for hospital services, balancing quality care with long-term financial sustainability.

• Performance & Reporting: Deliver accurate, timely monthly financial reports to the Board and key stakeholders to guide robust decision-making.

• Forecasting & Strategic Planning: Oversee financial forecasts, direct annual planning processes, and steer mitigation strategies when performance deviates from targets.

• Productivity & Efficiency: Champion productivity improvements by identifying efficiency opportunities using financial analysis and project management.

• Financial Challenge: Lead constructive discussions on performance, challenging managers appropriately and highlighting resource implications.

• Team Leadership & Deputising: Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and step up for the Associate Director of Finance when required.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

• Recognized Professional Accountancy Qualification (Fully Qualified member of CCAB as per HFMA national finance profiles definition).

• Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with professional body guidelines.

Experience (Essential)

• Extensive relevant experience in Financial Management within complex organizations.

• Track record of leading organizational change and multi-professional collaboration at a senior level.

• Proven experience in leading, managing, and developing a high-performing team.

• Experience utilizing benchmarking techniques and adapting local systems and processes.
