At Supportive Bridge Staffing, we specialize in connecting exceptional professionals with career-defining corporate roles. We are proud to partner with Aldi to find a trend-spotting, analytical, and highly proactive Assistant Buyer to join their dynamic National Buying team, focusing on the fast-moving Ambient Grocery category.
Buying teams at Aldi move even quicker than the rest of the business. To keep up with lightning-fast store openings and skyrocketing sales figures, they have to do something special: stay ahead of the customer, predicting trends before they even happen. As an Assistant Buyer, you will operate right at the heart of the business, managing the core, seasonal, and world-famous Specialbuys across Grocery, Near Food, and Beverages. If you want a role where you can hunt down the next big FMCG trend and bring it to life on a national scale, this is your bridge to that opportunity.
You will get involved in every aspect of the buying lifecycle, managing your category area with autonomy and driving real commercial impact:
Product & Supplier Ownership: Develop a full, thorough knowledge of products and suppliers across Ambient Ranges (Grocery, Near Food, Beverages) to successfully run Core, Seasonal, and Specialbuys lines.
The Buying Lifecycle: Build comprehensive tender documents, prepare product samples, review critical market data, and collaborate with both domestic and international suppliers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Manage the efficient and accurate flow of communication internally and externally, working closely with Regional teams, Supply Chain, Advertising, Communications, Corporate Responsibility, Quality, and International Sourcing.
Data Analysis: Interpret complex POS and financial data, using Microsoft Excel to analyze performance and drive informed commercial recommendations.
Compliance & Due Diligence: Oversee all product-related due diligence, legal compliance, and advertising checks to ensure every product launch is customer-ready.
To thrive in this fast-paced corporate environment, you will bring:
Experience: Previous experience in a Buying role is highly desirable, backed by a proven track record of working successfully within a fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills: Strong Microsoft Office proficiency (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) for analyzing numbers and preparing presentations.
Mindset: A strong sense of urgency, adaptability under pressure, and a desire to continuously improve, innovate, and contribute positively to a close-knit team.
Organization: Superior time management and personal organization to plan ahead, prioritize duties, and confidently meet tight deadlines.
Relationship Management: Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
