Paediatric Nurse - Children's Unit - Huntingdon Band 5

Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is pleased to assist our valued client in recruiting a dedicated Band 5 Paediatric Nurse to join their Children's Unit in Huntingdon, UK. Based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, this permanent role offers full-time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time options across 11.5-hour rotational shifts (including day, night, and weekend coverage).

In this rewarding clinical role, you will work within a 19-bedded paediatric unit featuring a High Dependency bed, a 6-bed day surgery area, and an integrated Paediatric Assessment Unit. You will deliver high-quality, compassionate care to children and families, participate in multidisciplinary referrals and discharge planning, uphold safeguarding standards, and occasionally rotate to Peterborough City Hospital Children's Wards when required for clinical service support and professional development.

Role Description

As a Band 5 Paediatric Nurse, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care to children and young people, manage acute clinical cases, uphold safeguarding protocols, and collaborate across multidisciplinary care teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to paediatric patients on the 19-bedded unit, day surgery, and assessment areas.

• Coordinate inter-professional referrals, discharge planning, clinical assessments, and emergency/resuscitation procedures (CPR).

• Maintain strict safeguarding standards for vulnerable children, support student supervision, and rotate flexibly to sister hospital sites as needed.

Requirements

• Active NMC Registration as a Registered Children's Nurse (RSCN / RN Child) OR Registered Nurse (Level 1) with significant clinical experience in paediatric care settings (e.g., Children's Ward, ED, Neonatal).

• Proven experience nursing children with complex healthcare needs or life-limiting conditions, with core competency in basic nursing care and resuscitation.

• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills, with full flexibility to work 11.5-hour rotational shift patterns.
