About the Role
Join BAE Systems and play a vital role in shaping a safer future. As the Senior Fuze Engineer, you will act as the technical lead for critical programmes covering new product development, the evolution of legacy products, and manufacturing support for in-service munitions. Working closely with the Portfolio Manager, you will oversee product design, systems engineering, and successful programme delivery.
Core Duties:
Lead product design and systems engineering activities for new and legacy products.
Champion safety across products, manufacturing processes, trials, and team working practices.
Lead engineering teams to deliver programmes safely, effectively, and on schedule.
Manage engineering risks, opportunities, and governance throughout the complete development lifecycle.
Drive robust systems engineering processes, product improvements, and technology integration.
Plan and deliver technical reports, trials, and engineering outputs with appropriate resource management.
What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Qualifications):
Education: A Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, OR an Apprenticeship with an HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
Experience: A proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering tasks and projects.
Technical Output: Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality engineering deliverables and technical reports strictly to time and cost budgets.
Leadership: The capability to mentor, guide, and develop junior team members.
Testing & Evaluation: A solid understanding of trials, tests, and product/process evaluation.
Security Note: Due to the nature of defense technology, applicants must meet baseline security requirements. Many roles require higher levels of National Security Vetting, typically necessitating 5 to 10 years of continuous UK residency.
