Based at the Stamford Unit Intermediate Centre—a 96-bedded facility located on the Tameside Hospital site under Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust—this permanent position (36 hours per week across a 7-day rota) offers a rewarding opportunity in Ashton-under-Lyne, UK.
Working alongside nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, you will support multidisciplinary care plans aimed at optimizing patient independence and facilitating safe discharge home. You will carry out supervised clinical care, assist patients with daily living activities, lead prescribed rehabilitation exercises, and support individuals presenting with varied physical, cognitive, and medical needs.
Role Description
As a Band 2 Healthcare Therapy Assistant, you will assist multidisciplinary teams by delivering direct patient care, supporting functional rehabilitation tasks, and encouraging patient independence within an intermediate care unit.
Key Responsibilities
Execute assigned care and rehabilitation tasks in accordance with individual patient therapy plans and protocol guidelines under direct or distant supervision.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility exercises, and therapeutic activities to optimize functional independence prior to home discharge.
Monitor patient progress, record observation notes accurately, and report clinical changes or concerns back to supervising nurses and therapists.
Requirements
Good standard of GCSEs (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics.
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate patients with physical, cognitive, or sensory impairments.
