About the Role
We are acting on behalf of ABL Health Ltd—an experienced, CQC-registered community health organisation dedicated to reducing health inequalities—to recruit a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (or equivalent professional) as a Single Point of Access (SPA) Practitioner in Swindon.
In this pivotal role, you will deliver responsive, person-centred care to children, young people (CYP), and families. Working within a Single Point of Access model, you will provide meaningful telephone consultations, triage and screen referrals, and direct families to appropriate mental health and wellbeing pathways across the BE U service and local landscape.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Assessment & Triage
Triage and screen incoming referrals, making informed clinical and pathway decisions while carrying out assessments and safety calls with CYP and their families.
Hold a small active caseload, delivering evidence-based or CBT-informed interventions and providing practical resources and guidance to parents and caregivers.
Conduct robust risk assessments and manage positive risk-taking to ensure safe, effective responses, maintaining accurate, evidence-based electronic case notes.
2. Multi-Agency Collaboration & Safeguarding
Respond proactively to safeguarding and child protection concerns, providing immediate support and intervention to vulnerable families.
Collaborate closely with schools, healthcare providers, social services, and community organisations to ensure a coordinated, holistic approach to care.
Monitor and improve local access metrics, engage with local communities to raise mental health awareness, and participate in an on-call evening and weekend rota.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications: Mental Health or equivalent professional health qualification (e.g., Registered Mental Health Nurse, Allied Health Professional, or Social Worker) with a minimum of 18 months post-qualification experience and current UK professional registration.
Experience: Practical experience working in an enhanced-needs mental health multidisciplinary team environment, managing a caseload, delivering CBT-informed interventions, and working independently with risk management and safeguarding protocols.
Competencies: Strong communication and active listening skills, cultural competency, proficiency with digital systems/client databases, and the ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Vetting: Ability to successfully complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Desirable Criteria
Experience in quality improvement measures.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications, NVQ/university awards, mentorship qualifications, or evidence of post-registration training.
