About the Role
We are acting on behalf of ABL Health Ltd—an innovative, fast-paced, CQC-registered community health organisation—to recruit an experienced and dedicated Social Worker (SPA Practitioner) for the Be U service in Swindon.
In this vital Single Point of Access (SPA) role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering responsive, person-centred care to children, young people (CYP), and their families. You will manage telephone consultations, triage and screen referrals, and provide meaningful guidance, education, and support around children's mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Triage, Assessment & Caseload Management
Conduct phone-based assessments, safety calls, and screening consultations to determine clinical pathway decisions.
Manage a small active caseload, delivering evidence-based or CBT-informed interventions and providing practical resources to parents and caregivers.
Exercise robust risk assessment and management skills to ensure safe, effective responses to CYP and their families.
2. Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Safeguarding
Collaborate closely with schools, healthcare providers, social services, and community organizations to coordinate holistic, integrated care.
Respond promptly to safeguarding and child protection concerns, providing immediate support and appropriate interventions.
Participate in regular supervision, peer support meetings, service quality improvements, and an on-call rota including evenings and weekends.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Registration: Professional mental health or health-related qualification (e.g., Social Worker, RMN Nurse, or Allied Health Professional) with a minimum of 18 months post-qualification experience and current UK professional registration.
Knowledge & Experience: Solid understanding of child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS), family development, transitions, and the local support landscape. Experience working in an enhanced-need mental health multidisciplinary environment.
Competencies: Strong risk assessment and safeguarding capabilities, excellent active listening and communication skills with cultural sensitivity, and strong digital/documentation proficiency.
Vetting Requirements: Must successfully pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. (Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.)
Desirable Criteria
Experience with quality improvement measures or relevant post-registration training/mentorship qualifications.
