Job Introduction

Joining Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency, this service will support children with learning disabilities, offering a safe, nurturing, and empowering space where every child is given the opportunity to grow, thrive, and feel at home. We are seeking compassionate, reliable Support Workers who are ready to make a real difference in children’s lives. No previous experience is required—we provide full training and support!

What Is Required From You?

• Experience & Qualifications: No experience needed—we provide full training! Hold or be committed to completing an NVQ Level 3 (or above) in Residential Childcare.

• Personal Attributes: A genuine interest in supporting children with learning disabilities, patience, resilience, emotional intelligence, a positive attitude, and a team-player mindset.

• Availability: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and participate in a sleep-in rota (averaging 4 sleep-ins per month).

• Driving Licence: Desirable, but not essential.

• Compliance & Vetting: This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to enhanced DBS checks and comprehensive safer recruitment vetting procedures.

What You Will Be Doing

As part of a team wholeheartedly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, you’ll provide consistent, compassionate support to children with learning disabilities—helping them feel safe, valued, and empowered. You will:

• Build Relationships: Foster trusting, positive relationships with children and young people.

• Support Daily Routines: Assist with school runs, mealtimes, play, and bedtime routines.

• Develop Independence: Help children learn essential life skills and build their confidence.

• Collaborate: Work as part of a team to ensure children feel safe, secure, and cared for.

• Care Planning: Support with care plans, routines, and risk assessments (with full training).

• Therapeutic Approach: Handle challenging behaviour calmly and with empathy using a therapeutic approach.

• Activities: Take part in fun, active days—because every day is different!
