Position: Residential Child Care Worker
Location: Children's Residential Home, Liskeard, Cornwall
Salary: £26,364 - £29,108 per annum + £50 per sleep-in allowance (Based on an average of 2 sleep-ins per week)
Contract Type: Full-Time, averaging 39 hours per week on a predictable 3-week rolling rota provided 6 weeks in advance (Part-time hours also welcomed!)
About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to build brighter futures? We are seeking a dedicated Residential Child Care Worker to join our warm, child-focused team in Liskeard, set within the beautiful Cornish countryside.
Working alongside an integrated team of clinical and educational colleagues, you will help deliver trauma-informed, therapeutic care that provides stability, safety, and enriching experiences. No previous experience is necessary—we provide full training, guidance, and a fully funded Level 3 Apprenticeship in Residential Childcare to help you develop into a confident, skilled professional. Whether surfing on the coast, exploring Bodmin Moor, or cooking meals together, your care will help turn young lives around.
Key Responsibilities
Be a dependable, positive role model, guiding young people to make safe, healthy choices and develop independence.
Engage children in exciting outdoor adventures and coastal activities (surfing, paddleboarding, beach days, sea swimming, and moorland walks) alongside creative indoor fun.
Maintain a warm, homely environment by assisting with cooking, cleaning, and practical life skills.
Support children's emotional regulation and personal development within a trauma-informed, therapeutic framework.
Complete electronic record-keeping and undertake overnight sleep-in duties (typically 2 to 3 per week).
What We Are Looking For
No prior experience required: A compassionate, resilient, and patient attitude is what matters most!
Strong written, verbal, and IT communication skills.
A sense of fun and an understanding of the vital importance of play.
Essential requirements: You must be over 19 years old, and ideally hold a full UK driving licence.
A genuine passion for making a meaningful, lasting difference in children's lives.
