Salary: £36,225 to £46,575 per annum FTE (Pro-rata for part-time hours)

We are acting on behalf of Optegra UK Ltd—proudly recognised by the Sunday Times as one of the Best Big Places to Work—to recruit an experienced and dedicated Scrub Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join the expert clinical team at their prestigious private hospital in York.
In this vital part-time role, you will participate in all aspects of the ophthalmic surgical pathway. Working within a supportive, forward-thinking environment, you will deliver exceptional patient-centred care, provide skilled clinical and technical assistance within the operating theatre, and support peri-operative, post-operative, and minor surgical procedures.
1. Surgical Care & Theatre Assistance
Carry out a full range of professional nursing/ODP duties, including the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by providing appropriate surgical instrumentation, equipment, and efficient technical support.
Provide comprehensive peri-operative and post-operative care within the surgical and refractive suite, assisting seamlessly with minor operations.
2. Equipment Management & Traceability
Take personal responsibility for ensuring all surgical equipment is handled and disposed of correctly.
Ensure appropriate decontamination and sterilization of reusable equipment are strictly carried out, evidenced, and fully documented for total traceability.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Registration: Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with current, unrestricted NMC or HCPC registration; relevant qualification in Ophthalmology or Peri-operative Care.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year or more of dedicated ophthalmology surgical theatre experience.
Competencies: Strong IT literacy (good working knowledge of Microsoft Office), sound awareness of the professional Code of Conduct, and a clear understanding of CQC standards and requirements.
Requirements: Must hold current UK professional registration.
