We are acting on behalf of ABL Health Ltd—an experienced, CQC-registered community health organisation dedicated to reducing health inequalities—to recruit a passionate and motivated Stop Smoking Advisor (Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner).
This is an exceptionally rewarding role where you will make a tangible difference in people's lives by delivering evidence-based, equitable stop smoking services to reduce health inequalities across local communities, particularly within areas of high deprivation. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are fully equipped to deliver effective, impactful interventions.
1. Stop Smoking Interventions & Support
Motivate and empower clients to address nicotine dependence, explain the principles of the Stop Smoking Service, and support individuals in setting realistic, sustainable goals.
Deliver evidence-based stop smoking interventions in line with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme through 1-to-1 appointments, drop-in sessions, group work, telephone consultations, and online delivery.
Lead peer support group sessions for successful quitters to provide ongoing motivational support and prevent relapse.
2. Community Engagement & Service Delivery
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community partners to embed smoking cessation into routine care pathways and maximise public health gains.
Utilise health, equalities, and service data to understand local needs, inform service delivery, and operate efficiently across a diverse range of community settings.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date client and service records in strict compliance with ABL Health documentation policies.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications: Higher-level education or a professional qualification in health, social care, or public health.
Experience: Practical experience working within smoking cessation, other addiction support, behaviour change services, or community settings.
Skills & Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and workload prioritization abilities, IT literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and a positive outlook capable of inspiring confidence and motivating people.
Requirements: The ability to travel independently across the borough, work flexibly to suit service needs, and successfully complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Desirable Criteria
NCSCT Practitioner status or a relevant degree.
Knowledge of safeguarding (children and vulnerable adults), information governance policies, addiction principles, and the wider tobacco control agenda.
Experience in delivering training to target audiences.
