About the Role
We are recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Catering Assistant on a permanent basis on behalf of Wellesley Hospital in Wellington, Somerset, a purpose-built 101-bed hospital supporting men and women with complex mental health needs, learning disabilities, and autism.
Working 37.5 hours a week within an established kitchen team and reporting to the Head Chef, you will assist with food preparation, maintain high standards of operational hygiene, handle stock rotation, and serve meals to service users, staff, and visitors. You will also liaise with the wider multidisciplinary team, including dietitians, to ensure tailored dietary requirements are met in a calm, supportive environment.
What You Will Need
Experience & Knowledge: Previous experience working within a similar catering role, paired with a foundational knowledge of COSHH and HACCP guidelines.
Skills: Basic numeracy and literacy skills, alongside strong teamwork and communication abilities.
Qualifications: A relevant catering qualification is desirable.
Proximity & Attitude: A passion for food, a friendly and social approach, and ideally living within a manageable commute of Wellington, Somerset (TA21 9FF).
