About the Role

Are you an experienced engineering leader looking to drive the development of advanced, technology-led aerospace solutions? As a staffing partner, Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to recruit for this pivotal Mechanical Team Leader position on behalf of BAE Systems.

Operating within the Mechanical Engineering Design team, you will quickly gain a robust understanding of specialized products—including head-worn displays, cockpit display systems, and flight controls. You will direct a team of talented engineers, ensuring that technical risks are managed, practical solutions are achieved, and projects are tracked, estimated, and executed flawlessly from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Mentoring: Direct, coordinate, and mentor a team of Mechanical Engineers. Conduct Performance and Development Reviews, provide salary review inputs, and ensure adherence to company policies.

• Project & Resource Management: Prepare project plans, manage budgets, and devise resource allocation plans to meet demanding project requirements.

• Design & Technical Review: Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans and Design Scheme Data Packs. Peer-check the work of other engineers (designs, calculations, technical reports) and chair design review panels internally and with customers.

• Commercial & Bid Support: Prepare estimates in support of new bids and assist in the generation of proposals and comprehensive documentation.

What We Are Looking For

• Engineering Expertise: Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline) with a proven track record of product development from concept through to production.

• Leadership Experience: Demonstrated background in team leading and project management within an engineering environment.

• Technical Proficiency: Competence using CAD tools to prepare design models (experience with CREO CAD is highly desirable). Familiarity with TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA is advantageous.

• Domain Knowledge: Experience related to avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, anthropometrics, design with composites, additive layer manufacturing, or test and measurement equipment will be highly valued.
