About the Role

Lead and manage the design, development, and delivery of exciting new-build maritime projects! As a staffing partner, Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to recruit for this vital Boats New Build Project Engineering Manager position on behalf of BAE Systems.

Operating within the Future Products team at Portsmouth Broad Oak, you will initially lead the engineering aspects of the bid for the UK MOD's new Littoral Strike Craft (LSC). You will oversee engineering activities across the product lifecycle, manage multidisciplinary resources, guide design reviews (PDR/CDR), and act as the primary interface with classification societies.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering Leadership: Lead and own all aspects of the Littoral Strike Craft design, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and programme requirements.

• Team & Milestone Management: Guide multidisciplinary engineering teams through design development, reviews, and product maturity milestones including PDR and CDR.

• Classification Interface: Serve as the primary interface with Classification Societies (such as Lloyd's Register and DNV) to manage approvals and regulatory compliance.

• Programme & Resource Support: Support engineering planning, resource allocation, risk mitigation, cost forecasting, bid preparation, and subcontractor performance management.

What We Are Looking For

• Leadership Background: Strong engineering leadership experience delivering multi-layered maritime, naval, defence, or new-build engineering programmes.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of marine classification rules, approval processes, and experience working directly with Classification Societies.

• Lifecycle Expertise: Proven capability in leading design reviews, systems integration, and product lifecycle management from concept through detailed design.

• Professional Status: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or possessing the demonstrable competency to achieve chartership in the short term.
