Ward Manager - Kimberley Ward On Gunthorpe NHS AfC: Band 7

Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is pleased to assist our valued client in recruiting an experienced Band 7 Ward Manager to lead Kimberley Ward (currently on Gunthorpe) within their Gastroenterology service. Based at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH)—a major 1,200-bedded teaching hospital—this permanent full-time position (37.5 hours per week) offers a prominent clinical leadership role within acute healthcare in Norwich, UK.

In this operational and clinical leadership post, you will oversee nursing standards and care delivery across a specialist gastroenterology ward managing complex eating disorders, nutritional needs, acute gastrointestinal bleeds, and emergency conditions. You will lead, mentor, and schedule the nursing workforce, maintain resource efficiency and staffing compliance, manage complaints and Datix incident investigations, and foster continuous quality improvement in line with Trust values.

Role Description

As a Band 7 Ward Manager, you will provide clinical and operational leadership to the gastroenterology ward team, manage nursing resources and staffing, oversee incident investigations, and drive evidence-based patient care standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visible leadership and maintain high standards of nursing care across the gastroenterology ward in accordance with NMC guidelines and Trust policies.

• Oversee daily ward operations, manage shift staffing levels, control budgets, and supervise team appraisal, mentorship, and professional development.

• Lead clinical risk management, conduct prompt investigations into patient complaints and safety incidents, and implement lessons learned to enhance patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Active registration on the appropriate part of the NMC Register as a Registered Nurse.

• Extensive post-registration nursing experience, including significant senior clinical experience (Band 6 or equivalent) within gastroenterology or a related acute surgical/medical specialty.

• Proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to equality, diversity, and continuous service improvement.
