About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our trusted justice sector partners for a dedicated Prison Support Officer - Operations.

Based at HMP Dovegate—a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter—you will form the core of our operational environment, ensuring the facility runs effectively and efficiently. Whether managing the security gate, supervising prison visits, escorting staff and visitors, or providing crucial administrative and communication support, this role offers the chance to be part of a supportive work family where your contributions make a tangible difference every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Security: Manage security gates, monitor access points, and maintain rigorous safety protocols across the facility.

• Visits & Escorting: Supervise prison visits and securely escort prisoners, staff, contractors, and visitors around the establishment.

• Administrative Support: Deliver efficient administrative, communication, and logistical coordination to keep daily operations running smoothly.

• Welfare & Safety: Maintain vigilant awareness, follow strict security guidelines, and promote a secure, stable environment.

What You’ll Need

• Communication & Literacy: Strong communication skills with a good educational foundation in English and Maths to handle report writing and numerical tasks.

• Ideal Backgrounds: We welcome candidates with practical experience from active, outdoor, or vehicle-related environments. Ideal previous backgrounds include:

  • Vehicle inspection, transport, logistics, or recovery work

  • Outdoor operational roles or parcel sorting/delivery positions

  • Any role requiring you to be on your feet, active, and managing physical tasks

• Vetting Requirements: This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All offers are subject to strict security clearance checks, Home Office approval, and passing Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 Vetting.
