As a Kitchen Assistant, you will serve as the cornerstone of the village’s culinary operations, acting as the vital link that ensures the kitchen runs seamlessly, safely, and hygienically to support resident dining.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting chefs by preparing simple meals and ancillary items for service under direct instruction.
Washing dishes by hand or loading the dishwasher, safely storing clean items to minimize breakages.
Maintaining immaculate kitchen floors by sweeping and mopping to keep them completely free from grease and spillages.
Cleaning work tables, walls, kitchen equipment, and major appliances in strict adherence to established cleaning schedules and the HACCP policy.
Safely operating and transporting kitchen equipment between storage and work areas.
Keeping the kitchen tidy and secure, disposing of rubbish correctly, and ensuring all supplies are properly stored away.
Adhering strictly to company Food Safety, Health, and Safety policies at all times.
A sound understanding of Health, Safety, and hygiene maintenance within a food environment.
Ideally possessing an up-to-date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) and prior experience in a professional kitchen or catering department.
Desirable: Experience working within a care environment and managing basic stock.
Capability to prepare simple meals while remaining organized, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
