Key Responsibilities

• Lead by example to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care across all stages of the perioperative pathway.

• Provide day-to-day clinical leadership within your area of specialism, ensuring strict adherence to best practices at all times.

• Support and guide staff to maintain exceptional standards of patient care, dignity, empathy, and technical competence.

• Act as a strong patient advocate, raising and addressing any safeguarding or quality concerns proactively.

• Assist the Clinical Services Manager – Theatre in daily departmental management, including planning, rostering, and service delivery coordination.

• Mentor junior team members, support clinical competency development, and cultivate a positive culture of excellence, respect, and accountability.

• Maintain effective communication across multidisciplinary teams to guarantee seamless, coordinated patient care.

Candidate Requirements

• Registration: Current, valid NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with relevant experience in a hospital theatre setting.

• Specialist Experience: Strong clinical background in a specialized theatre discipline (e.g., anaesthetics, orthopaedics, scrub, or recovery).

• Leadership Background: Proven ability to lead and support clinical teams within dynamic, complex environments, ideally with prior experience in a deputy or supervisory theatre role.

• Skills & Knowledge: Strong understanding of patient safety, safeguarding, and clinical governance frameworks, coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Desirable Criteria: Previous experience in private healthcare settings, familiarity with theatre scheduling systems, and involvement in clinical audits, service improvement, or compliance projects.
