Based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital within Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, this permanent position offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled healthcare professional to provide planned day-case care in a dynamic, nurse-led unit environment.
In this part-time role working 28.5 hours per week (structured as three 9.5-hour shifts within operational hours of 07:00 to 19:30, 7 days a week), you will work independently under the guidance of Registered Nurses. You will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals attending for day procedures and acute or chronic condition management, helping avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and supporting early discharge.
Role Description
As a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner, you will carry out clinical procedures, support patient flow, undertake therapeutic venesection, perform routine observations, and assist registered nurses in managing day-unit patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform therapeutic venesection under Trust policy and competency frameworks for patients presenting with haematological conditions such as Haemochromatosis and Polycythaemia Vera.
Deliver direct clinical care and monitoring for patients undergoing day procedures, escalating any signs of clinical deterioration promptly to registered nursing staff.
Maintain clear, accurate, and timely patient documentation, support health education, and ensure strict compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
Requirements
Foundation Degree in Health Studies (Science) or equivalent academic qualification (e.g., Diploma in Higher Education).
Significant demonstrable clinical experience working within a healthcare environment.
Proven ability to recognize personal professional boundaries, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and model core trust values (PRIDE).

Calculated hourly rate of £14.52 to £15.94 per hour (based on £28,392 - £31,157 per annum pro rata across 28.5 hours per week).
