We are acting on behalf of FedBucks Ltd to recruit an experienced, ambitious, and visionary Medical Director to join their Executive Leadership Team at a pivotal stage of development.
FedBucks is a trusted not-for-profit GP federation and social enterprise representing 45 practices and caring for over 550,000 residents across Buckinghamshire. In this high-profile executive role, you will provide visible, credible, and inspirational clinical leadership across a diverse portfolio of services—including Out of Hours, Urgent Treatment Centres, the Clinical Assessment Service, Virtual Care Hub, intermediate care, and community wellbeing programmes. You will shape the future of primary, urgent, and community care by driving innovation, system-wide integration, and service transformation.
1. Executive & Strategic Leadership
Serve as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, shaping the strategic direction, growth, and governance of FedBucks.
Collaborate closely with member practices, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), the Integrated Care Board (ICB), and wider health and care partners to design sustainable models of care.
Champion quality improvement, patient safety, and innovation across all planned and unplanned healthcare services.
2. Clinical Leadership & Workforce
Provide inspirational leadership to a multidisciplinary clinical workforce, fostering a culture of openness, continuous learning, and high performance.
Oversee clinical governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, incident investigations, and clinical audits.
Support professional development, clinical supervision, and workforce transformation initiatives.
3. Active Clinical Practice
Maintain active clinical credibility by undertaking a minimum of 52 clinical sessions per annum (approximately one programmed activity per week averaged across the year) within frontline services.
Essential Criteria
Registration & Qualifications: Registered Medical Practitioner with a current GMC registration and licence to practise, with inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or GP Register (or within six months of entry at appointment). Evidence of successful appraisal, revalidation, and ongoing CPD.
Experience: Significant senior clinical leadership experience operating at a senior management, executive, or Board level within the NHS, primary care, urgent care, or community healthcare services.
Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams, developing clinical strategy, delivering large-scale service transformation, and navigating complex clinical governance and regulatory compliance frameworks.
System Working: Strong understanding of current NHS policy, integrated care systems, population health management, and health inequalities, alongside a history of effective cross-organisational collaboration.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience as a Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Clinical Director, or equivalent senior leadership role.
Experience working with Primary Care Networks, NHS 111, Integrated Urgent Care, Urgent Treatment Centres, or Out of Hours services.
Management or leadership qualifications (e.g., MBA, MSc, PGCert, or NHS Leadership Academy programmes).
Executive salary range of £130,000 to £150,000 per annum
