The Role
We are seeking an experienced Drainage Supervisor to join our client's Birmingham highways maintenance network team based at the Thimble Mill Lane Depot. This is a great opportunity to lead operational teams on a major city highway contract within a supportive and professional working environment.
Location: Thimble Mill Lane Depot, Birmingham
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 per year + £5,000 annual car allowance + excellent benefits package
Team Leadership: Supervise drainage operatives and gangs delivering planned and reactive maintenance works across the network.
Operations & Coordination: Coordinate daily activities, allocate resources, and monitor performance to ensure gully cleansing, jetting, and drainage repairs are executed efficiently.
Emergency Response: Manage emergency responses to flooding and drainage issues, ensuring quick and effective resolution.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure the safe delivery of all works, maintaining strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, including traffic management and site safety protocols.
Experience: Proven experience supervising drainage, highways maintenance, or civil engineering operations, with a strong understanding of highway drainage systems and reactive repair activities.
Certifications: Relevant industry qualifications including NRSWA Supervisor, SSSTS or SMSTS, High Pressure Water Jetting (WJA), EUSR Utilities Excavation, CAT & Genny, and First Aid certification.
Skills: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, leading operational teams and coordinating multiple workstreams safely and efficiently.
Knowledge: Excellent grasp of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, with hands-on experience managing safe systems of work on the highway network. (Note: We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship for this role).
