Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust to recruit a dedicated and experienced Band 7 Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Major Trauma Centre team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
As a major tertiary referral centre admitting approximately 1,500 trauma patients a year—alongside specialist military services and complex surgical pathways—our trauma unit relies on clinical nurse specialists to help plan timely surgical interventions, coordinate safe discharge pathways, and provide expert, compassionate care. You will work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate a seamless, evidence-based specialist trauma service while supporting education, training, and governance across the department.
Specialist Clinical Care: Provide expert nursing advice and trauma care using up-to-date evidence and clinical competence. Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate person-centred care plans for complex trauma patients.
Service Coordination & Pathway Management: Support the trauma unit in planning timely surgical interventions for emergency inpatients and patients at home, facilitating early identification of appropriate discharge pathways.
Leadership & Education: Act as a clinical expert, providing mentorship, training, and supervision to junior staff, and contributing to educational programmes and clinical audits.
Governance & Development: Play a key role in developing clinical practices, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines while maintaining strict adherence to clinical governance and safeguarding standards.
Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register with active revalidation evidence.
Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development (CPD) or post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty to FHEQ Level 6 / 7 equivalent.
Recognised mentorship course.
(Desirable: Working towards or holding an MSc/Masters qualification, advanced health assessment module, or Non-Medical Prescribing qualification).
Significant post-registration experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Band 6 or above within a defined or associated specialty.
Extensive experience of working autonomously at a specialist level within a multidisciplinary and cross-agency environment.
Proven track record of teaching, assessing, and supporting others alongside a solid understanding of clinical governance, risk management, and safeguarding.
Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 per annum (Agenda for Change Pay Scheme).
Inclusion: UHB is committed to an inclusive, values-driven culture and provides reasonable adjustments for staff with disabilities or long-term health conditions.
Checks & Sponsorship: Subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, overseas criminal record checks where applicable, and active UK professional registration. Skilled Worker sponsorship applications are welcome.
