About the Role

Deliver vital Warship Technical Authority (WTA) service elements across critical naval platform systems! As a staffing partner, Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to recruit for this important Senior Mechanical Engineer position on behalf of BAE Systems.

Operating within the Asset Management team at Portsmouth Naval Base, you will provide advanced mechanical engineering support across diverse naval platform systems, driving design change, technical assurance, obsolescence management, and engineering excellence across major programmes like QEC, T45, T23, and international navies.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering Support: Provide advanced mechanical engineering support across naval platform systems, equipment, and critical marine services.

• Design & Technical Integrity: Deliver systems design integrity, technical investigations, impact assessments, and integration analyses to support evidence-based decisions.

• Change & Configuration Control: Ensure safe and efficient implementation of design changes while maintaining rigorous configuration control.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage effectively with the MOD, international navies, OEMs, and industry partners while mentoring junior engineers.

What We Are Looking For

• Professional Background: Experienced Mechanical Engineer (IEng or equivalent) with progressing professional accreditation (e.g., IMechE).

• Industry Knowledge: Broad knowledge of complex naval platform systems, maritime defence standards, or other highly regulated sectors (aviation, nuclear, oil & gas).

• Lifecycle Competency: Proven ability to operate within lifecycle management, governance, assurance, and support frameworks.

• Specialist Experience: Background in at least two technical areas such as mechanical systems design assurance, requirements compliance, CAD modelling, equipment maintenance, or safety case documentation.
