We are acting on behalf of ABL Health Ltd—an experienced, CQC-registered community health organisation dedicated to reducing health inequalities—to recruit a proactive and enthusiastic Workplace Health Stop Smoking Practitioner.
In this rewarding role, you will engage with workplaces and local businesses across Nottinghamshire to support employers and their staff in improving health and wellbeing. You will build partnerships, assess workforce needs, promote wellbeing-at-work practices, and deliver evidence-based stop smoking support (including face-to-face and telephone clinics). Full training will be provided to achieve NCSCT Level 2 Stop Smoking Practitioner status, equipping you to help individuals achieve sustainable behaviour changes and reduce tobacco-related health inequalities.
1. Workplace & Community Engagement
Engage with local businesses to build a robust portfolio, assess workforce needs, and establish effective referral routes into the Stop Smoking Service.
Collaborate with external organisations, HR professionals, and workplace wellbeing leads to promote wellbeing-at-work practices and reduce health inequalities.
Use health and equalities data to identify local needs, inform service delivery, and ensure accessibility across diverse and deprived populations.
2. Stop Smoking Interventions & Support
Deliver evidence-based stop smoking interventions (1-to-1 sessions, drop-ins, group work, telephone, and online support) in line with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme.
Motivate and empower clients to address nicotine addiction, explain addiction principles, and help individuals set realistic, sustainable quit goals.
Provide ongoing behavioral support, lead peer support groups for successful quitters to prevent relapse, and ensure all client records comply with ABL Health documentation standards.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Experience: Higher-level education or a professional qualification in health, social care, or public health, OR equivalent practical experience working within smoking cessation, addiction support, or behaviour change services.
Experience: Proven track record of working in community settings, addressing health inequalities, and building successful partnerships with stakeholders.
Competencies: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, adaptability, a quality-driven and proactive outlook, and excellent organizational abilities to manage a diverse caseload alongside outreach and admin duties.
Vetting: Ability to successfully complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Desirable Criteria
NCSCT Practitioner status or a relevant degree.
Knowledge of safeguarding (children and vulnerable adults), national guidance, and experience in developing and delivering training to target audiences.
