Location: Optegra, 1 Tudor Court York Business Park, York, YO26 6RS (with occasional shift cover required at Bradford and Wetherby hospitals)
Salary: £31,050 to £39,330 per annum pro rata (inclusive of comprehensive benefits including pension, 33 days annual leave, private healthcare, and free laser eye surgery)
Contract Type: Permanent / Part-Time (19 hours per week across 2 days, flexible Monday–Thursday)

About the Role Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Optegra UK Ltd—recognized by the Sunday Times as one of the Best Big Places to Work—to source an experienced Ward Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner for their prestigious private hospital in York. In this supportive and forward-thinking environment, you will play a key role across the ophthalmic service pathway, delivering exceptional pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative patient care, as well as supporting minor operations and diagnostic testing.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively apply clinical judgment and analytical skills to identify potential issues along the patient pathway requiring Consultant or Surgeon input.
Collaborate closely with Consultants to deliver outstanding clinical care and support during patient visits.
Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions and clinical advice to patients and carers in alignment with holistic care standards.
Safely administer medications and treatments strictly in accordance with NMC Standards for Medicines Management guidelines.
Maintain professional standards, patient dignity, and comprehensive clinical documentation at all times.
Person Specification & Requirements
Qualifications & Registration: Registered General Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration OR Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with HCPC registration, with no professional restrictions.
Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience, with a background in day surgery, operating theatres, or outpatient settings.
Desirable Criteria: A formal qualification in Ophthalmology or Peri-operative care, along with prior ophthalmology or outpatients experience.
Compliance: Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
