Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust to recruit permanent Consultant Radionuclide Radiologists with a special interest in PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine.
UHB is a leading regional centre for cancer, trauma, and transplantation. Driven by service growth—particularly within our regional PET Centre housing some of the busiest scanners in the country and a new two-scanner PET facility on the horizon—we are expanding our 66-member nuclear medicine department. With advanced facilities including 3 SPECT-CT systems (such as the UK’s first 64-slice Veriton), an on-site radiopharmacy producing Gallium-68 tracers, and ongoing developments in contrast-enhanced PET-CT and SPECT-CT, this is an exceptional opportunity to shape advanced nuclear imaging services.
Clinical Reporting & MDTs: Report general nuclear medicine and PET-CT studies (incorporating F-18 and Ga-68 tracers), and actively participate in specialist Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
IR(ME)R & ARSAC Leadership: Act as an IR(ME)R and ARSAC practitioner with a license covering Trust services, ensuring justification of studies, protocol development, study optimisation, and radiation protection compliance.
On-Call & Advisory Rotas: Participate in diagnostic on-call rotas (approx. 1 in 22–24) with first-on SpR support and home workstation availability, alongside out-of-hours Nuclear Medicine ARSAC advice and guidance (approx. 1 in 8).
Service Development & Teaching: Contribute to service expansion, clinical governance, audits, and the education/training of junior staff and departmental colleagues. Experience in radionuclide therapies is welcomed though not essential.
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register, or eligibility for entry / within six months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.
Evidence of active Continuing Professional Development (CPD) including CME.
Current UK professional medical registration.
Salary: £113,565 to £150,569 per annum (Hospital Medical and Dental Pay Scale).
Inclusion: UHB is committed to an inclusive, values-driven workplace culture and provides reasonable adjustments for staff with disabilities or long-term health conditions.
Checks & Sponsorship: Subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, overseas criminal record checks where applicable, and active UK professional registration. Skilled Worker sponsorship applications are welcome.
