Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in leading the culinary team to deliver a comprehensive, high-quality, and nutritionally balanced catering service within budget.
Prepare specialized modified diets that look appealing, are well-balanced, and strictly adhere to IDDSI guidance.
Supervise and direct the work of culinary staff as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and guidance on food preparation activities.
Uphold the highest hygiene standards and ensure the principles of safe food handling and the Avery Food safety management system are followed across the kitchen team.
Person Specification & Requirements
Qualifications: Hold a relevant catering qualification (such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2, an NVQ, or equivalent).
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of professional catering experience.
Core Skills & Qualities: Compassion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary services to older people, alongside the adaptability and flexibility to cover shifts at short notice.

Compliance: Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required (cost met by Avery Healthcare) alongside proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
