Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our trusted facilities management and custodial partners for a skilled FM Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical).
Based out of HMP Dovegate in Staffordshire, you will play a vital role in keeping a secure establishment safe, compliant, and operating effectively. Your technical expertise will ensure critical mechanical and gas systems run reliably every day, supporting residents, colleagues, and the wider community. This unique role offers genuine purpose within a secure, challenging environment where high standards of safety, reliability, and care truly matter.
Mechanical Maintenance: Carry out routine mechanical engineering work, planned preventative maintenance, repairs, and testing of gas systems.
Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose complex system faults and complete defect rectification on plant and equipment across the site.
Equipment Installation: Install new mechanical plant and equipment in strict accordance with technical specifications and safety standards.
Compliance Tracking: Ensure maintenance schedules, statutory checks, and compliance documentation are meticulously kept up to date.
Team Support: Collaborate within a multi-skilled facilities management team, including supporting and escorting contractors when required.
Safety Protocols: Work safely at all times, strictly adhering to statutory requirements, site procedures, and local regulations.
Trade Qualification: A recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent trade-based qualification (such as City & Guilds or NVQ).
Gas Certification: Gas Safe registration, with practical experience across both commercial and domestic systems considered highly desirable.
Core Competencies: Ability to work independently, manage workloads efficiently, and meet tight operational timescales.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills coupled with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
Authorised Person: Qualification as an Authorised Person (AP), or a willingness to undertake training and assessment to become an AP, is desirable.
Vetting Requirement: Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check and an Occupational Health Questionnaire.
Competitive Package: Base salary of £40,000 per annum supplemented by a £160 per week on-call allowance.
