Tesco is currently seeking a confident, driven, and customer-focused Tesco Shift Leader to join the permanent team at their Stevenage Chells Express store.

This is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role offering great variety, stability, and everyday challenges. As a Shift Leader, you will be the go-to person for day-to-day store operations, coaching colleagues, and confidently leading the store in the Manager's absence.

Availability & Working Hours

• Contracted Hours: 36.5 hours per week (guaranteed minimum hours policy applies, with options to discuss flexibility down to 12 hours if preferred).

• Required Availability Window:

  • Monday: 05:30 – 14:00

  • Tuesday: 05:30 – 14:00

  • Thursday: 14:30 – 23:00

  • Friday: 14:30 – 23:00

  • Saturday: 14:30 – 23:00

• Note: You will receive 3 weeks' notice of your exact shift schedules. Applicants must be over 18 years of age to apply for this leadership role (due to early morning and late evening working hours).

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Lead the team to deliver a great in-store experience, acting as a strong role model and coaching colleagues to perform at their best.

• Store Operations: Work across all areas of the store, serving as the go-to person for day-to-day operational queries and confidently leading the store in the Manager's absence.

• Relationship Building: Build positive, inclusive relationships that help foster a supportive team environment and ensure every customer's needs are met.

• Decision Making & Adaptability: Make balanced, flexible decisions, adapt well to change, and seek continuous opportunities to improve store performance.

• Must be over 18 years old to apply.

• Experience working in a team lead or management position in a fast-paced retail environment.

• A natural leadership style with a passion for inspiring and motivating teams to deliver outstanding results.
