• Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time

• Hours: 32.00 hours per week (Working 3 days a week plus alternate weekends)

Working as a permanent Second Chef through our supportive bridge staffing agency on behalf of Barchester Healthcare, you will have the chance to deliver hotel and restaurant standards without the demanding split shifts and exhausting long weeks. You will step in to manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, assist with menu development, and work closely with residents to tailor nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced dishes around their preferences.

Key Responsibilities (What You'll Do)

• Manage and oversee the kitchen efficiently in the Head Chef’s absence.

• Assist the Head Chef in creative menu development and person-centred hospitality.

• Prepare fresh produce to deliver high-quality, wholesome meals cooked to the highest standards.

• Help create a warm, efficient, fun, and welcoming environment for residents and staff.

• Work strictly within budgetary guidelines, complete routine audits, and manage stock control.

Candidate Requirements (What You'll Need)

• A personable, warm approach with a genuine interest in resident wellbeing.

• Relevant culinary qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ / SVQ or equivalent).

• A solid understanding of nutrition and working with fresh, seasonal food.

• Confidence engaging directly with residents to create appetising menus.

• A strong working knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety.
