As a Core Tutor within our Justice and Immigration team at HMP Dovegate, you will deliver engaging, high-quality Maths or English programmes designed to help learners develop essential skills, achieve recognized qualifications, and build brighter futures.

Teaching & Programme Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive Maths or English teaching and learning programmes tailored to individual learner needs.
Curriculum Planning: Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), continuously monitoring and tracking learner progress and achievement.
Assessment & Accreditation: Assess learner work, provide constructive, actionable feedback, and support successful accreditation and certification outcomes.
Pastoral Support & Mentoring: Act as a personal tutor, offering guidance, mentoring, and pastoral support to help learners overcome barriers to education.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate learner records, registers, and statutory documentation in full compliance with awarding bodies and regulatory requirements.
Collaborative Working: Work closely with education colleagues, prison operational teams, and external professionals to foster a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment.
We are looking for a dedicated, empathetic educator with a strong commitment to inclusive learning and a passion for supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Teaching Qualification: Must hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
Assessor Qualification: Must hold a Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (AVRA) or a recognized assessor qualification.
Teaching Experience: Proven experience delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
Personal Attributes: A genuine passion for learner development, exceptional communication and organizational skills, and a strong talent for building positive relationships.
Professional Commitment: A dedication to continuous professional development (CPD) and maintaining the highest standards of educational practice.
Vetting Readiness: Ability to successfully pass prison security clearance, background checks, and an Occupational Health Questionnaire.
Financial Package: Competitive starting salary of £33,738.00 to £37,652.00 per annum (dependent on qualifications).
