What You Will Be Doing
Provide advanced respiratory physiotherapy interventions, optimizing respiratory function, preventing avoidable deterioration, and promoting person-centred care.
Conduct comprehensive assessments (chest auscultation, secretion load, cough effectiveness, ventilator dependency) and manage tracheostomy care, weaning readiness, and emergency responses.
Collaborate with external specialist centres (such as the Royal Brompton outreach services) to optimize ventilator settings and support resident weaning.
Act as the respiratory clinical lead, providing guidance, delivering staff training, leading audits, and ensuring compliance with CQC and national safety standards.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Registered Physiotherapist with active Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
Hold a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or a recognized equivalent qualification, with a minimum of 1 year of post-qualification experience.
Demonstrable clinical experience managing tracheostomies, invasive/non-invasive ventilation, suctioning, manual techniques, and rapid response to respiratory emergencies.
Strong decision-making skills in complex cases combined with clear, compassionate communication abilities.
