Position: Maintenance Operative (Permanent, Part-Time)

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with Bupa to recruit an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Operative for a part-time role at Freelands Croft Care Home in Fleet.
Freelands Croft is a highly rated, 64-room care home specializing in dementia care—from early onset to complex end-of-life needs—alongside nursing, residential, and short-stay care. As a Maintenance Operative, your primary responsibility will be ensuring that the home's facilities, building fabric, and equipment remain fully functional, safe, and compliant. You will play a crucial role in maintaining an environment that meets Bupa's high cultural and brand standards while supporting the comfort and wellbeing of residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring all health, safety, and compliance checks (including fire safety, Legionella risk assessments, and Environmental Health standards) are carried out using Bupa's digital compliance systems.
Managing, tracking, and closing maintenance tasks, repairs, and defect reports efficiently, ensuring value for money.
Overseeing building and equipment repairs, obtaining quotes, and working with Bupa-approved contractors as needed.
Managing on-site elements of refurbishment and capital expenditure (capex) programmes with minimal disruption to residents and staff.
Assisting with the induction of new colleagues regarding emergency exits, fire points, and evacuation procedures.
Providing occasional regional maintenance support to local Bupa care homes within a reasonable distance (no more than 1 hour away) if required.
A building, electrical, or plumbing qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC, etc.) OR a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in property maintenance and general repairs.
A good working understanding of building services (heating, hot/cold water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, and plumbing) and building fabric maintenance.
Practical experience with planned maintenance systems, record-keeping, and statutory compliance.
Practical ability and experience in painting, decorating, and general handiwork.
A full UK driving licence and computer literacy.
Good customer service skills and flexibility to meet the changing demands of the care home.
