About the Role Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with DoctorPA Secure LTD—an established provider of primary care in secure environments since 2014—to source a committed General Practitioner for HMP Exeter. Operating under their core ethos of CARE (Compassionate, Assurance, Respectful, and Equitable care), DoctorPA Secure is dedicated to supporting staff wellbeing and work-life balance onsite. In this impactful role, you will help bridge health inequalities, manage complex health needs, and deliver exceptional continuity of care within a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver full primary care GP services, including clinical consultations, assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and specialist referrals.

• Oversee and manage acute presentations, chronic conditions, and mental health needs.

• Contribute actively to substance misuse management and patient detox pathways.

• Collaborate seamlessly with an on-site multidisciplinary team comprising nurses, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and external providers.

• Take part in clinical audits, risk assessments, safeguarding workflows, and clinical governance initiatives.

• Maintain thorough, accurate clinical documentation using the prison's electronic health record system.

Person Specification & Requirements

• Qualifications & Registration: Fully qualified General Practitioner with current GMC registration and a valid UK licence to practise.

• Clinical Expertise: Strong primary care background with sound clinical decision-making capabilities and excellent patient management skills.

• Desirable Criteria: Prior experience within prison healthcare, secure units, or working with vulnerable groups; additional certifications in substance misuse (e.g., RCGP part 1 & 2), mental health, or sexual health.

• Compliance: Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
