Position: Maintenance Operative

We are currently recruiting on behalf of Wingham Court Care Home in Esher—an award-winning, vibrant community set in four acres of beautiful grounds featuring comprehensive therapy facilities, tennis courts, and a dedicated activity program.
We are looking for a practical, experienced Maintenance Operative to ensure our facilities remain fully functional, safe, and welcoming. In this vital role, you will manage building maintenance, compliance checks, and repairs while maintaining high standards that reflect Bupa's brand values.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct health, safety, and compliance checks utilizing digital systems and software according to Bupa Standard Operating Procedures.
Complete necessary maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard, in a timely manner, ensuring value for money and excellent first impressions.
Ensure compliance with Environmental Health, local Fire Authority requirements, Legionella risk assessments, and Health & Safety regulations.
Report defects, manage quotes, and oversee approved contractors.
Assist with refurbishment/capex programmes and support fire/evacuation safety inductions for new colleagues.
Sound understanding of building services (heating, plumbing, ventilation, electrical distribution) and building fabric maintenance.
Practical experience with planned maintenance systems, record keeping, and statutory compliance.
A building, electrical, or plumbing qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC, etc.) OR a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in property maintenance and general repairs.
A full UK driving licence.
Computer literate with good customer service and communication skills.
