We are acting on behalf of Optegra UK Ltd—a Sunday Times "Best Big Place to Work 2025" award winner—to recruit a dedicated Bank Healthcare Technician to join the friendly and supportive team at their prestigious private hospital in Guildford.
As an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, you will ensure a comprehensive, high-quality standard of care is delivered to all ophthalmic patients, their families, and carers across both clinical and administrative disciplines. Working alongside clinicians and optometrists during outpatient consultations, pre-assessments, and surgery days, you will help provide an exceptional patient experience from arrival to discharge.
1. Patient Care & Clinical Support
Hold personal accountability for the delivery of high-quality, holistic patient care throughout their visit to Optegra.
Provide pre- and post-operative care within your level of competence, offering basic health promotion advice with a particular focus on ophthalmic surgery.
Actively support and assist patients on surgery days, ensuring clear, compassionate communication and service excellence.
Handle patient enquiries effectively, referring to medical practitioners when necessary.
2. Diagnostics & Operational Support
Perform advanced diagnostic testing in clinic, including Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual Fields, Pentacam, Visual Acuity (VA), Intraocular Pressure (IOP), and Topography.
Work closely with clinical and patient services staff to ensure the smooth, efficient running of operating lists.
Essential Criteria
Experience: Prior experience working in a healthcare environment or specialized ophthalmic sector.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) and current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
Attributes: Highly organized with clear forward-planning abilities, flexibility to adapt to patient needs under pressure, and meticulous attention to detail.
