About the Role
We are acting on behalf of Perspectum Group Ltd to recruit a skilled and motivated Ultrasound Sonographer (Band 7 equivalent) to join their innovative team at the Oxford Community Diagnostic Centre.
In this autonomous role, you will perform and independently report on a diverse range of ultrasound scans—including general, abdominal, gynaecological, vascular, soft tissue, and small parts imaging. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical part in patient diagnosis and care, ensuring high standards of clinical practice from initial procedure communication to specialist recommendations and follow-up actions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Imaging & Reporting
Perform unsupervised ultrasound scans across multiple modalities (abdominal, general, vascular, gynaecological, soft tissue, and small parts).
Provide clear, independent clinical reports and make specialist recommendations or suggest follow-up actions when necessary.
Act as a legally and professionally accountable practitioner, taking a leading role in maintaining high clinical standards and patient safety.
2. Patient Care & Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Deliver exceptional, compassionate patient care, communicating clearly regarding procedures and addressing any concerns with sensitivity.
Work collaboratively alongside multidisciplinary colleagues and healthcare professionals across the Diagnostic Centre.
Manage workloads efficiently and support service delivery across flexible shift patterns.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Registration: Relevant qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PGDip in Medical Ultrasound, DMU, or equivalent) with current professional registration with the RCT or HCPC.
Experience: Proven NHS experience as a sonographer, with the ability to work independently, manage a busy workload, and perform unsupervised diagnostic scans.
Competencies: Strong communication skills, compassionate patient-focused attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Criteria
Experience in teaching and mentoring junior staff and students.
