ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Gardener, you will maintain the home's grounds and gardens to the highest standards, ensuring outdoor spaces are safe, vibrant, and welcoming. This full-time permanent position gives you ownership of garden design and maintenance while ensuring outdoor areas remain accessible for residents to enjoy year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain garden grounds, lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees to exceptional standards.

• Ensure garden structures, fencing, pathways, and gardening equipment are safely maintained.

• Keep grounds hazard-free across all seasons, including snow and ice clearance during winter.

• Plant and cultivate a range of seasonal flowers, shrubs, and greenery.

• Represent the home annually in the national ‘Barchester in Bloom’ competition.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a outdoor enthusiast who combines practical gardening expertise with a respectful, person-centred approach around care home residents.

Requirements & Attributes:

• Experience: Practical experience in horticulture, landscaping, or general garden maintenance.

• Health & Safety: Solid understanding of health and safety standards, COSHH guidelines, and safe chemical treatment handling.

• Mindset: Reliable, trustworthy, and proactive with strong attention to detail.

• Personality: Patient, approachable, and considerate when interacting with residents, visitors, and care staff.
