Position: Hatchery Operative (Fixed Term Contract until end of December 2027)
Location: Romsey, Hampshire (Ower Hatchery)
Salary: £13.25 per hour (paid weekly) + £4.71 shift premium for working Saturdays
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (FTC)
Hours: 39 hours per week on a rotational shift pattern (including Saturdays)
About the Role
We are proud to partner with our client as a supportive staffing agency to recruit a motivated Hatchery Operative for their hatchery team in Romsey, Hampshire. No prior experience is necessary—full training is provided from day one!
Key Responsibilities
Chick Sorting & Handling: Ensure chicks are accurately sorted into the required grades and quantities, ready for prompt farm delivery.
Egg Management: Assist in the efficient movement of eggs from storage into incubating machines and onward to hatching machines.
Hygiene & Biosecurity: Clean all equipment thoroughly after use to meet strict hygiene standards and safeguard vital biosecurity procedures.
Safety & Welfare: Observe bird welfare guidelines and health and safety policies on-site at all times.

What We Are Looking For
Skills: Good level of basic English and numeracy skills, alongside strong attention to detail.
Attitude: A flexible approach to tasks and the ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
Experience: Previous production or manufacturing experience is welcome, though not essential.
