Healthcare Assistant – Day Ward (Bank)

Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is seeking a compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join the Day Ward team at a leading private hospital in York, UK. In this role, you will be dedicated to supporting clinical teams in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals undergoing minor surgical procedures and consultations.

Working on a flexible bank contract basis, you will support ward operations across varied shift patterns, including occasional weekend shifts. Working alongside Registered Nurses and consultants, you will combine direct pre- and post-operative clinical care with administrative duties to ensure a smooth, positive hospital experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nurses and consultants in delivering exceptional patient care across minor procedure clinics, including endoscopy, cataract, pain, and local anaesthetic procedures.

• Perform administrative tasks, manage records, and handle telephone communications efficiently within the day ward setting.

• Provide attentive, individualized support to patients pre- and post-surgery, maintaining strong organizational standards.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent healthcare qualification).

• Previous healthcare assistant experience within an acute hospital, day ward, or care setting.

• Good computer literacy, database skills, and effective communication abilities with a patient-first approach.
