Location: National, United Kingdom (with regular travel across homes/support offices)
Salary: £80,000 per annum + car allowance and benefits

Are you a strategic and hands-on Health & Safety leader passionate about driving a proactive safety culture across a multi-site organisation? Reporting to the Director of Care Quality, you will provide expert leadership, guidance, and regulatory oversight on all aspects of Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, and compliance across Avery Healthcare.
In this high-impact interim role, you will work closely with operations, estates, quality, and home-based teams to ensure safe environments for thousands of residents, visitors, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing strategic leadership and oversight of Health & Safety across the organisation in line with relevant legislation and internal policies.
Developing and refining auditing, reporting frameworks, and data insights to manage risk and drive continuous improvement.
Acting as the organisational lead for Infection Prevention & Control, keeping best practices current and aligned with regulatory expectations.
Conducting audits, inspections, and reviews across care homes and corporate functions.
Providing expert guidance on risk management, COSHH, fire safety, legionella management, and wider safety matters.
Leading serious incident investigations, root cause analyses, and engagement with regulatory/enforcement bodies.
Coaching leaders and building strong stakeholder relationships to embed a positive, proactive safety culture.

Requirements:
Recognised NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
Significant experience leading Health & Safety functions within a complex, multi-site organisation.
Background within Health and Social Care, Care Homes, Healthcare, or a similarly regulated environment.
Strong, up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, the Health and Social Care Act, and regulatory requirements.
Proven track record in compliance framework development, auditing, serious incident investigations, and risk management.
Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Full UK driving licence with a willingness to travel regularly (including occasional overnight stays).
