We are currently recruiting a dedicated Swim Coordinator to join the team at The Whitchurch Swimming & Fitness Centre on behalf of the Shropshire Community Leisure Trust.
In this hands-on leadership role, you will lead and shape a high-quality swimming lessons programme that teaches essential water safety skills, builds confidence, and strengthens community wellbeing.
As a Swimming Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:
Programme Management: Develop, manage, and grow the centre’s swimming lessons programme to ensure high quality and strong customer retention.
Team Leadership: Lead, support, and mentor a team of qualified swimming teachers, handling recruitment, rotas, performance management, and ongoing development.
Operations & Growth: Coordinate staffing and schedules to meet operational demand and financial targets, introducing new courses such as intensive and school swim programmes.
Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with customers, local schools, and partners to support outreach and programme growth.
Hands-On Teaching: Deliver swimming lessons when required to maintain service continuity and prevent cancellations.
Qualifications: A Swim England Level 2 or STA Level 2 Award Swim Teacher qualification is essential.
Safety: An NPLQ or NRASTC qualification is required (full training can be provided if needed).
Experience: Previous experience managing or supervising teams within a busy leisure or aquatic environment.
Core Skills: Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills, with confidence using IT platforms like Outlook and Excel.
Due to the nature of this role involving work with children and vulnerable groups, an Enhanced DBS check (covering spent/unspent convictions and police information) is required. Candidates will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to ensure proper workplace support.
