Paediatric Staff Nurse - CAU & Emergency Department Band 5

Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is pleased to assist our valued client in recruiting a compassionate Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse to join their Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) and Emergency Department in Worksop, UK. Based at Bassetlaw Hospital within Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, this permanent position offers full-time and part-time shift options (37.5 hours per week covering day/night rotation) to deliver urgent care to young patients.

In this dynamic acute role, you will work within a supported learning environment alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team. You will assess, plan, and deliver high-quality emergency and assessment care to children and young people, building upon your core paediatric nursing knowledge while sharpening your skills in emergency medicine, acute triage, and family-centered communication.

Role Description

As a Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse in CAU & Emergency, you will deliver direct nursing care to children presenting with acute illnesses or injuries, perform clinical observations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across emergency settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based, and compassionate paediatric nursing care within both the Children’s Assessment Unit and the Emergency Department.

• Conduct clinical assessments, monitor patient vital signs, administer medications, and assist in acute emergency interventions for children and young people.

• Communicate effectively with family members and collaborate closely with medical staff, allied health professionals, and senior nursing leads.

Requirements

• Active registration with the NMC as a Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RSCN) or RN Child.

• Proven post-registration experience working as a Registered Paediatric Nurse with up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues (completion of a 12-month preceptorship is desirable).

• Precise, methodical working practice with strong verbal and written communication skills and the flexibility to work rotational shifts.
