Job Title: Head of Maintenance
Location: Richmond Villages Painswick, Stroud Road, Painswick, Gloucestershire, GL6 6UL
Rate of Pay: £14,234.80 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time (16 hours per week, mainly Thursdays and Fridays, with occasional weekend work, duty management shift cover, and on-call support)
We are partnering with the luxury Richmond Villages Painswick to find an experienced and proactive Head of Maintenance. Set in a picturesque retirement community, this role ensures that all necessary maintenance, repairs, and safety standards are completed to the highest level so the village remains fully functional and safe at all times.
As Head of Maintenance through Supportive Bridge, you will lead on facilities management, oversee health and safety compliance, and manage building services with minimal disruption to residents and staff.
Manage, train, and develop maintenance team members while keeping clear records of instructions and equipment usage.
Assist with staff inductions, focusing particularly on emergency exits, fire points, and evacuation procedures.
Provide over-the-phone advice when off-duty and respond to call-outs for emergency situations at the Village.
Report defects to the Village Manager and identify issues requiring escalation or specialist advice.
Ensure outside buildings and grounds are maintained to a safe, high standard of repair with minimum disruption.
Check boilers for correct functioning, leaks, and proper water/space temperatures.
Complete and record all statutory health and safety checks to ensure adherence to current regulations.
Maintain the office workshop and plant rooms, keeping tools and equipment secure, while adhering to purchasing procedures to minimise waste.
Conduct PAT testing to ensure residents' electrical appliances are tagged "safe for use."
Previous experience as a head of maintenance or in a similar facilities management, property, or repair role.
Good working knowledge of building services such as electrical distribution and plumbing (relevant qualifications are advantageous).
Experience with planned maintenance systems, digital record keeping, and statutory requirements.
Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused, with strong IT skills and the ability to work well within a team.
