Support Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with essential support services to connect compassionate professionals with meaningful community roles. We are currently recruiting a dedicated Housing Officer to join our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC) team across Stoke and surrounding areas.
In this vital role, you will assist individuals through the asylum system on behalf of the Home Office, ensuring that vulnerable asylum seekers have access to the support they need alongside a high standard of safe, compliant accommodation. Your work will directly impact community wellbeing and provide trusted support to people when they need it most.
Property Standards & Inspections: Complete monthly property inspections (at a minimum) across initial accommodation (IA) to ensure they meet contractual requirements, performance targets, and property legislation.
Service User Support: Provide inductions for new service users, deliver welfare support, signpost essential services, and respond to requests and complaints raised via AIRE Services.
Safety & Safeguarding: Ensure buildings and service users remain safe and compliant in accordance with safeguarding policies, dealing with welfare checks, medical needs, and security protocols (including CCTV and fire alarm testing).
Maintenance & Repair: Manage access for suppliers and contractors, complete first-fix and minor repairs where tasked, and report any maintenance defects promptly.
Administration & Reporting: Provide accurate, timely reporting on visits, inspections, repairs, and incidents, while managing day-to-day operations like daily registers and post handling.
Experience: Strong experience working in a service environment with demonstrable customer service and communication skills, alongside knowledge of property-related operations.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities and conflict-management skills, with a compassionate, professional approach.
Digital Literacy: IT literate with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
Licence & Travel: A valid UK driving licence is strictly required for this role (a company car will be provided).
Desirable Traits: Previous maintenance knowledge, safeguarding experience in a similar setting, or a background in a security-related role.
Company Car & Salary: Competitive salary of £29,250 per annum plus a provided company car.
